UK Independent Vet PMS Survey 2026

Non-commercial research on CMA-readiness across UK independent practices.

The March 2026 CMA final report introduced new transparency obligations on every UK practice: visible price lists, the £21 / £12.50 prescription fee caps, ownership disclosure, and price comparison participation. The operational lift falls largely on the Practice Information Management System.

The corporate groups have internal benchmarking teams comparing how their PIMS stacks vendor by vendor. Independent practices have almost nothing equivalent. Most owners change PIMS once a decade, often based on a vendor demo, a couple of conference conversations, and instinct.

This research is built to close that gap. By aggregating what UK independents actually use, how satisfied they are, and how confident they are that their vendor will deliver on CMA compliance, the published report gives independent practices the same peer benchmark the corporates have on tap.

It also gives the profession leverage. If 60% of practices on a given PMS are unconfident about CMA readiness, vendors hear about it. If practices choosing in the next 12 months know what their peers picked and why, the choice gets cleaner.

We are publishing the aggregated findings free for the profession. No paywall, no lead capture for vendors, no commercial follow-up to respondents.

VetStack is running independent market research on PIMS usage across UK independent veterinary practices.

The CMA final report introduced new transparency obligations and the way each PIMS supports those obligations is going to vary widely. Independent practices have fewer resources than the corporate groups to absorb the operational hit, so understanding where the profession sits matters.

The survey is 10 to 12 questions. It takes about 5 minutes. It is anonymous. There is no product or service being sold here, and your answers are not being used to drive any sales outreach. Aggregated findings will be published as a free sector report this summer.

Respondents can enter a prize draw for a £250 Amazon voucher. The email for the draw is kept separately from your survey responses and not used for anything else.

Please feel free to forward this to a peer practice owner if you think the research would benefit from their input.

Many thanks,
